About the Foundation
At the Experience Anatomy Foundation, we seek to balance the duality of loss and life by providing the highest quality of care as we connect health sciences to life-based education.
Why Donate to the Experience Anatomy Foundation
Engaging with the Experience Anatomy Foundation represents the beginning of a significant and personal relationship that involves:
Highest Level of Dignity & Care
We believe in the honor and dignity of each of our donors, and proudly care for each one as though they were a member of our own family. Our donation program is unique because donors remain in our custody throughout the process. This allows us to provide the highest level of donor stewardship and to serve as a greater comfort to their families.
We communicate directly with donors and loved ones before the time of death. After a donor’s passing, we can work one-on-one with the family’s preferred funeral home to coordinate donor transportation or we can take care of all arrangements through our trusted and well-respected partner, James Funeral Home.
Following the completion of education and research, the Foundation will facilitate cremation, return remains, and reconnect with the donor’s loved ones to respectfully share about the impact of their generous donation.
In partnership with our sister company, Experience Anatomy, the Experience Anatomy Foundation is committed to enhancing the fields of medical research and healthcare education. We thoroughly vet our partners and ensure that every donor is treated with respect throughout the donation and study process.
Whole-body donation programs tend to restrict contributions only to those that meet very specific parameters. At the Experience Anatomy Foundation, we appreciate the educational value of diversity and are committed to accepting donations outside of standard requirements for height, weight and certain medical concerns.
Who We Are
The Experience Anatomy Foundation was established by Jamie Decker, the founder and CEO of Experience Anatomy, a state-of-the-art anatomy education and training facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jamie has long been dedicated to the study and teaching of human anatomy. After earning her degree in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science from Piedmont Technical College, Jamie furthered her training in Germany under world-renowned anatomist, Dr. Gunther von Hagens. Following her return stateside, Jamie was Anatomy Lab Supervisor at Eastern Virginia Medical School; taught Anatomy and Medical Terminology at Central Piedmont Community College; and was scientist-in-residence at Discovery Place Science in Charlotte.
In 2016, Jamie founded Experience Anatomy in order to provide authentic health and life science learning opportunities of the highest caliber for educators, researchers, medical professionals, first responders, and military personnel. Jamie went on to launch the Experience Anatomy Foundation in order to further serve as a community resource, creating an opportunity for donors to maximize their gift while staying close to home.
Our Program Director
Our donor program is directed by anatomist Fauna Moore. Her journey to anatomy education began with her training as a massage therapist. Her first experiences learning from true human anatomy were so powerful that she has since been a passionate advocate for whole-body donation and advanced care planning at any age.
Fauna participates in donor care, preparation, and return, as well as in the development and facilitation of Experience Anatomy education programs. Fauna is steadfast in her commitment to ethical care of donors, practicing the highest industry standards, and informing the community about the benefits of whole body donation.
